Position Summary: The Manager of Clinical Specialties serves as a strategic leader responsible for developing, managing and advancing centralized programs and specialty techniques across the Athletico platform to ensure scalable, high-quality care delivery. This role drives organizational growth through comprehensive oversight of specialty services, curriculum development, team engagement and cross-functional collaboration that enhances patient outcomes and workforce development. The position requires strategic vision to align clinical specialties with business objectives while maintaining operational excellence and fostering innovation in care delivery models. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The below is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organization and the overall business objectives of the organization.

  • Lead the comprehensive development and management of Clinical Programs and Specialties across the Athletico platform, serving as the primary strategic resource for program innovation, standardization, and growth initiatives aligned with organizational objectives. 
  • Manage and develop clinical specialties team through employee performance management, learning and development programs, financial oversight, and fostering professional growth within specialty areas. 
  • Develop, deliver, and maintain comprehensive service curricula and educational criteria to ensure consistency in service delivery, substantiate specialist designations, and drive clinician participation with year-over-year growth targets. 
  • Support marketing and business development initiatives through community outreach, affiliate relations, referral relationship development, and collaboration with cross-functional departments including Marketing, HR, Finance, Sales, IT, and Clinical Operations. 
  • Evaluate and lead service line expansion opportunities, assess equipment needs, manage program budgets and stipends, coordinate educational events, and ensure efficient delivery of clinical programs through strategic resource allocation. 
  • Lead and coordinate oversight with residency program and support clinicians through residency programming.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Graduate of an accredited school of Physical or Occupational Therapy with a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or a clinical Doctorate degree  
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience, ten - fifteen years Physical Therapy clinical experience required.
  • Work Experience:
    • Minimum five years’ experience in the field of outpatient physical or occupational therapy, including documented clinical practice as a physical or occupational therapist required 
    • Minimum two years’ supervisory and leadership experience required 
    • Experience in business development related to clinical services required 
    • Experience in developing and delivering educational or clinical training programs required  
    • Experience creating and administering education and training within learning management system required 
    • Active member in professional organization and those related to the specialty preferred 
  • Certification/Licensure:
    • Licensed or eligible for license to practice physical or occupational therapy where duties are performed.
    • Advanced clinical certification preferred (e.g., residency, fellowship, manual therapy certifications). 
  • Knowledge and Technical Skills:
    • Ability to interact effectively and foster relationships with all levels of the organization 
    • Ability to manage key internal and external relationships required including education partners and all professional disciplines as well as Clinical Operations and Resource Center leaders, to advance the vision of clinical specialties 
    • Ability to effectively plan, organize, follow-up and delegate when required 
    • Ability to analyze ambiguous and complex situations and present appropriate situational alternatives required 
    • Ability to create, implement, and execute policy and procedure regarding essential job functions to both the field as well as Resource Center workflow processes 
    • Proficient in Microsoft 365 products and delivering presentations

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently

Physical Demands: 

  • Ability to fulfill office activities including but not limited to remain stationary for extended periods of time (i.e., while working at a desk), stoop/kneel/crouch, travel around the office, communicate with others (verbal and written), and use fine motor skills including fine hand manipulation and keyboarding 
  • Ability to see at close range, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus  
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds  
  • Travel required

Salaried ranges listed are for full time (40 hour) employees. Additional pay such as incentive, GAP, overtime, and stipends are subject to the rules of each program and may not be available in all locations. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.
