Position Summary:

The Vice President, Corporate Compliance directs and oversees the design, strategy, and implementation of Athletico’s compliance program which includes internal audit, regulatory compliance, corporate compliance, clinical compliance, privacy, and health information management. This Vice President builds and maintains programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee compliance programs including setting goals, strategic direction, developing annual work plan, compliance committee, regulation monitoring, conducting effectiveness reviews, risk assessments, training, investigations, reporting, and updating compliance and audit program policies, procedures, tools, and templates.
  • Design and implement regulatory compliance initiatives and develop corrective action plans for the resolution of problematic issues or to address areas of compliance vulnerability.
  • Provide ad hoc reports to Executive Leadership and the Board of Directors to keep them apprised of the operation and progress of compliance efforts.
  • Serve as the organization’s Privacy Officer in the capacity of internal expert on privacy laws and regulations.
  • Lead the Health Information Management function and the release of information processes, including management of the relationship with external ROI vendor.
  • Lead and develop a team to include the selection, work allocation, training, coaching, mentoring, problem resolution, performance evaluation, feedback and performance improvement.

Qualifications

  • Education: 
    • Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare related field required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Work Experience:
    • Minimum 7 years of Healthcare Compliance experience required
    • Minimum 5 years of management experience required
  • Certification/Licensure:
    • CHPC certification required within 1 year of hire
    • CHC certification required within 18 months of hire
  • Knowledge and Technical Skills:
    • Knowledge and/or experience with NextGen or other electronic health system
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
    • Must possess sound ethics and judgment
    • Knowledge of HIPAA privacy and security regulations, confidentiality, associated federal and state laws, access of information practices, information storage and retrieval, and record retention

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently

Physical Demands: 

  • Ability to fulfill office activities including, but not limited to, remain stationary for extended periods of time (i.e., while working at a desk), stoop/kneel/crouch, travel around the office, communicate with others (verbal and written), and use fine motor skills including fine hand manipulation and keyboarding.
  • Ability to see at close range, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20-25 pounds 

Work Environment: 

  • Consistent with a standard office environment, noise level is low with little to no extraordinary environmental factors.
