Overview

Position Summary:

Under direct supervision of a licensed physical therapist, evaluate, design and implement a patient’s plan of care, consistent with the requirements specified under the specific state practice act.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The below  is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organization and the overall business objectives of the organization.

  • Perform physical therapy assessment, reassessment, treatment and development of care plans under the direct supervision of a licensed physical therapist.
  • Develop and modify an individualized plan of care including goals and treatment plan in accordance with referral source, past medical history, history of present injury/illness, or the results of a physical therapy assessment with consideration of patient safety, and in consultation with a licensed provider or supervising physical therapist.
  • Provide education, verbal and/or written home instructions to patients and/or family members in consultation with a licensed provider or supervising physical therapist.
  • Communicate patient’s status to referring health care provider and other health care team members to progress toward goals, functional gains, compliance with program, and/or discharge disposition planning in consultation with a licensed provider or supervising physical therapist.
  • Maintain written documentation for all physical therapy services rendered consistent with Athletico’s Best Practices Guidelines in accordance with state rules established for co-signature and on site supervision by a licensed Physical Therapist.
  • Complete necessary charge information to accurately reflect the services rendered to the patient, and supported by clinical documentation records.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory payor requirements governing the appropriate continuum of care.
  • Develop professional relationships with referral sources.
  • Participates in continuing education courses and community service events including health related fairs, and performs complimentary screenings to the public as permitted.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Graduate from an accredited Physical Therapy school
  • Work Experience: None required
  • Certification/Licensure:
    • Temporary License and/or ATT letter as required by state laws regarding treatment
    • Current CPR Certification
  • Knowledge and Technical Skills: None required

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently

Physical Demands: 

  • Ability to fufill activities including but not limited to remain stationary for extended periods of time (i.e. while working at a desk), stoop/kneel/crouch, travel around the office, communicate with others (verbal and written), and use fine motor skills including fine hand manipulation and keyboarding.
  • Ability to see at close range, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds

Work Environment: 

  • Consistent with a standard environment, noise level is low with little to no extraordinary environmental factors.
