Position Summary:

The Senior Account Executive, National Employer Accounts will serve as the crucial gateway for expansion of Athletico’s employer relationships.  This role will report to and collaborate with the Director of Sales, Work Comp and Employer Solutions, to develop and execute a strategy to increase market share through closer relationships with large employers.  This position will identify, prioritize, and engage with potential employer clients to increase the volume of services they provide to their employees across all Athletico service lines, including workers comp, group health, and preventive services. 


This individual will combine a data-driven approach to prioritizing employer targets with strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with priority employers.  The role will focus on large, self-funded employers with regional or national footprints and engage with senior leadership at such employers to secure broader relationships. 


This role will also engage with the Directors of Key Accounts who will serve as subject matter experts for advanced sales discussions and ensure that proper service is provided to key accounts once a contract has been secured.  The role will also collaborate with those individuals in identifying and responding to Requests For Proposals (RFP) from major employers where relevant.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Account Management and New Business Development
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key decision makers at large regional and national employers, including both new and existing employer accounts to drive workers compensation, patient referrals and preventative care product sales
  • Identify employer targets’ characteristics, their needs, and the identities of their key stakeholders, including risk managers, HR executives, and other leaders
  • Use analytics to recommend actions and guide relationship building strategy, to include tracking and reporting on activity, and maintaining referral sources profiles
  • Create opportunity for relationship building by identifying new leads and contacts
  • Develop preventative care targets based on existing and new relationships
  • Assist and support other team members in developing and enhancing employer relationship building skills to include ongoing development of relationship-building training curriculum and

field support as needed

  • Provide input to marketing team in the development of marketing materials
  • Consult on opportunities that increase brand awareness initiatives to include, sponsorships, community events, and business to business opportunities
  • Experience using an automated Customer Relationship Tool
  • Stay up to speed on changes in benefits trends and workers compensation laws and policies
  • Attendance at industry events where large employer targets are likely to be present
  • Identify Requests for Proposal and support Key Account Case Managers in development and submission of RFP responses


Education and Experience: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communication or health related field or equivalent

work experience

  • Minimum of 5-10 years of outside sales experience, with a demonstrated track record of relationships with large employers.
  • Healthcare related background highly desirable
  • Salesforce experience helpful

Language Skills
